Top Tips For Decorating Your Kids Bedrooms
Tip 1: Get the kids involved
Just like us, our children are full of ideas and can be picky about their surroundings, so get them involved in the decision-making and allow them to have some input into the way their room is decorated - within reasonable limits!
If you ask your child outright about what they want their room to look like, you might get some outlandish and impractical answers, so give them simple choices. Ask them about the things they really enjoy and be sure to reflect their personality in the designs. If there is a simple choice to be made between one piece of furniture or another, then ask them to choose.
Tip 2: Pick fun furniture
Furniture doesn’t have to be purely functional. Take a look online or in specialised children’s furniture shops for inspiration. You’ll find an incredible range of kids' beds and storage items online at the K&Co website, many with quirky designs that are sure to really inspire and interest your child.
You don’t have to spend a fortune either – there are several fun ideas that you can undertake yourself. Try using reclaimed materials, such as old shipping pallets, to make a bed. You can find out how at loridanielle.com (- amazing blog!!)
If you’re feeling really ambitious you could even make a unique bed out of an old sailboat or bathtub. The key idea is playfulness, so let your imagination run wild.
Tip 3: Deck the walls
When it comes to decorating the walls, the best thing you can do is throw caution to the wind. Add some character to the bedroom by painting pictures (or stencil designs) of your child’s favourite things, and feel free to use bold, cheerful colours that will make the room feel welcoming and fun. As your child grows older, you can always repaint in more neutral, muted shades for a slightly more mature finish if necessary - the possibilities are endless.
