Downloadable Camping Checklist

We absolutely LOVE camping, We always camp at least once a year, more when we can. This Summer we have already done Silverstone F1, two BTCC races and Camp Bestival!

When packing, I find it much easier to work off a list so we've decided to share our checklist with you lovely lot! Download our handy PDF CAMPING CHECKLIST now so you can print off and tick things off as you pack.

We've also been testing out some of this years camping must-haves....

This lantern is fantastic. We have camped so many times and only ever used head torches. We kept this hung centrally in our tent so when we returned in the evening we could pop it on and see comfortably without being blinded. It has 4 light modes and night light function across it's warm white 3W LED and it's amber 10W LED. The amber light attracts 60% less insects than a regular bulb - another win.

Truthfully though the best part for us since we were camping with kids was that it seems completely indestructible. The lantern was dropped a couple of times during the course of our trip and it just kept going proving, as Varta says, that it is very robust.

It's battery powered ( 3 x D batteries) and waterproof too. This was a big hit with us, so much so that we have ordered another.

Head torches are an absolute must when your camping -particularly for children. We have one each so when the sun goes down we can see clearly. We have had issues in the past with blinding lights but
the Varta Sports Headlamps are great because they have 2 x 1 Watt  high performance LEDs and they also have a red LED for night vision. Like the lantern the headlamps have rubber parts for durability and have passed the many drop tests that my children have put them through across 2 camping trips.

They take 3 x AAA batteries that are really easy to insert and the elastic is adjustable to the smallest (Little E) and largest (Chris) of heads!

Buy yours now: VARTA HEADTORCH

Hands down, the best thing about this power bank is how quickly it recharges. I keep this charged up in my handbag now in case I need some power through the day. The children loved that it could be decorated and personalised using the pen and stencils in the pack. Unfortunately though, they didn't realise that the pen was permanent so our charger carries random writing and scribbles! It charges my Sony Xperia twice when it's fully charged.

We have always struggled with what best to use to clean our tent. We always seem to end our camping trip with dirt from tree sap or bird droppings. No one wants to pack away a soiled tent. Only trouble is what do you use that will ensure you don't damage the original waterproof coating? We'll we tested STORM WASH and we were really impressed. Just wet the soiled area, spritz on and wipe off. It really is that easy!! Check out our mini film below to see just how fast the spray got to work. We just used a non abrasive sponge and hey presto the filth was gone! It costs around £8 for a bottle and it's a great addition to your camping bag - so quick and simple to use!

We've been testing this on our old canvas gazebo. It had been abandoned in the garage for a while as we had left it outside for a whole summer and it had started to leak. We decided to give the proof a go and we were really impressed.

We just poured some of the liquid in to a bowl and painted it on to the cover with a soft brush. It only took about 20 minutes to cover the whole thing, then we just left it to air dry in the sun.

We're so happy that it has restored our shelter for another summer. Well worth the £25 for 5 litres price tag. It's a fast drying silicone-free proofer - ideal for canvas tents, awnings, tarps and general covers.

For any tent damage and rips, products like Storm’s Tear-Aid Patch Pack (RRP £7.50) are ideal for both on-site immediate repairs and for more permanent repairs actioned at home during the aftercare process. For those of you that were at Camp Bestival this year you will know just how handy this little pack could be! The Tear-Aid Patch Pack allows clear and flexible air tight and water tight repairs to be made with ease. Simply clean the area, cut patch, peel and stick! As well as tents, the patch is suitable for clothing, inner tubes, wellies, kites, outdoor gear and much more...

What a life saver this amazing GP PowerBank Mobile Charger has become for us. It's amazing for every day as well as for camping. It's a 20000mAh high capacity mobile charger. We've been testing it for some time and we get on average 6 full charges of our phones (Sony Xperia's) which means you could head away for a whole weekend camping and not worry about losing contact with anyone. It's amazingly fast too. My phone goes from 0 to 30% in less than  10 minutes!

To charge the powerbank just plug it in using the USB wire provided (you do need your own plug), it took around 10 hours to reach full charge. There is also a 4-tier protection system built-in as standard, so you can recharge without fear of over-heating or over-charging. And if you were thinking of taking it on holiday it also meets air safety standards so you can use it mid-flight. It's well worth the £35.99 RRP.

Baby Annabell Review

Hi Guys, it's me again. I've been off on my Easter Half Term and I've been playing with the new Baby Annabell Doll. She is so cute and just like a real baby.

I've been taking care of her for two weeks and it's just like having a little baby sister. Especially when she cries and real tears come out. She comes with 5 accessories - a dummy, a bottle, a bib, a nappy and a pendant.

I really loved feeding Baby Annabell water with her bottle and guess what she wees too. It's a good job she has a nappy!

I decided to do another video for you guys. So here's my review vlog for you:

On the video I couldn't get her to wee because she had cried so much and used all her water drink on tears. All you need to do is push her heart tummy button and she goes to the toilet really easily.

When you feed her, if she cries you need to wind her by tapping her back and then she burbs.

She is such a good baby. We are going to get her a cot and pram next. Hope you enjoyed my review. Come back soon. x

Disclosure: We received the Baby Annabell doll for free in return for our review.

Moj Moj Unboxing & Review

Hi I'm Little E and this is my first ever toy review post that I am writing myself. I was so excited to get some brand new Moj Moj blind bags to open and review.

They have just come out and are made by the same people as L.O.L. Surprise! and Num Noms so I already knew they would be a lot of fun.

I got to open bags from the first Moj Moj series. They don't have series number like the other collectibles, this series is actually named "😀"!

So here is my first ever unboxing video. I hope you enjoy it!

So as you can see from my vid, I got 8 squishy Moj Moj toys in my blind bags - 2 in each bag. My favourites were the cute little blue penguin (S-001) from the Adventure Seekers and the yellow star fish (S-067) from the Sun Bathers family group.

They are all so cute and colourful and I love all of the characters you can collect. I've played with them every day so far.

This series has 6 family groups to collect - Adventure Seekers, Party Animals, Couch Potatoes, Happy Campers, Sun Bathers and Day Dreamers.

.

I will definitely be collecting more! There are over 95 unique Moj Moj to collect in the first "😀” series and like lots of other collectibles there are some limited-edition, rare and ultra-rare Moj Moj.

Guys, if you want to collect some MojMoj squishies for yourself then head over to The Entertainer toy shop now.

Disclosure: We received these Moj Moj blind bags to allow us to write the review.

A Weekend in Wales - Attractions of Snowdonia Review

Living in West Lancashire we are lucky enough to be able to visit North Wales regularly. This year we have already made a couple of trips over the border to Prestatyn and Anglesey so when we were contacted by Attractions of Snowdonia and asked if we would like to spend the weekend visiting some of the local attractions we jumped at the chance. Soon after signing up,  Deri the roaming Dragon (the new Attractions of Snowdonia mascot) arrived to accompany us on our trip...

Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway

We set off on Saturday morning (after some unexpected car troubles) and headed to Porthmadog - the home of the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways. Parking at the station is limited so we headed to a larger public car park - near Wilko's - not far from the station.  After collecting our tickets we jumped on board the steam train and set off from Porthmadog on the 13.35. The journey took us up through the hills through Minfford and Tan y Bwlch finally arriving at Blaenau Ffestiniog at 14.45.

The train has a number of carriages including a couple of first class cabins if you fancy a little luxury on your trip.

TOP TIP: There are 2 and 4 seat tables so try and board as early as possible to get some extra space.

We started the trip on 2 small 2 seater tables but as quite a few passengers left the train at Tan y Bwlch we were able to sit as a family eventually.

The time absolutely flew by and if I'm honest I was surprised how the sights along the journey managed to keep the children entertained for so long. We spotted sheep, waving walkers and please look out for the beautiful waterfall just before you reach Tan y Bwlch - it's stunning!

We took a picnic to save on pennies but a refreshment service is available on the train where you can order soft drinks, tea or coffee and even a selection of licenced drinks from spirits through to Welsh cider. After a short stop and a stretch of the legs at Ffestiniog, we boarded the train again ready for the 13½-mile journey back to the harbour of Porthmadog. We all really enjoyed our trip up to the mountains and we would highly recommend it to anyone that wants to take in the sights of Snowdonia in a truly relaxing way.

A guidebook is available to purchase on board for £5 where you can find out more about the Ffestiniog Railway. In it you can read about how Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways is the oldest independent railway company in the world - founded by an Act of Parliament in 1832 believe it or not. In fact, the company introduced the world's first narrow gauge steam locomotives in 1863 and four of the original locos still remain!

Once back at Porthmadog we took a quick trip to the harbour before heading to the hotel for the evening.

The Celtic Royal

We spent the night in the beautiful Celtic Royal Hotel in Caernarfon, around a 30 minute hour drive from Porthmadog.

We were booked in to a family room, consisting of a double and 2 single beds. After unpacking we called down to reception to reserve a table for our evening meal.We were really disappointed not to have been able to get a later table in the restaurant (we wanted an 8 o'clock setting but we were forced to take 7.15 as the restaurant was fully booked -  rather annoyingly though it wasn't full at all even when we left at 9pm and we could only watch what looked to have been a beautiful sunset from the window rather than over at the quay.)

The food at Brasserie Draco more than made up for it though - was absolutely delicious -and my risotto was the best fish dish Ive had in years!

We retired for the night but being all in the same room meant that we were restricted in what time we could go to bed ourselves so we got an early night ready for tomorrow's adventures.

King Arthur's Labyrinth

We arrived at King Arthur's Labyrinth just before 1pm. We were booked on to the 1.30 trip so we took a wander round the centre. There are lots of little craft shops to explore - a chocolate shop where you can make your own bar, a wooden toy store and a candle shop where you can dip candles. If you book ahead you can even build a piece of rustic furniture! With little time to play with, the children immediately headed to the adventure playground and worked off some energy.

We arroved at King Arthur's Labyrinth store a little early so we were shown in to a video area while we waited. At 1.30 sharp, a lady came to take us in to a small seating area where we were told about the adventure ahead. After receiving our hard hats we took the short walk round to the entrance of the cavern.

TOP TIP: Wrap up warm and wear wellies if you can as it's very cold and damp inside the mountain.

We walked through to the dark passage to be greeted by a mysterious boatman who ushered us on board. We sailed along, through a waterfall (don't worry you won't get that wet!) and disembarked from our boat. We walked from cave to cave to see and hear the wonderful tales of King Arthur and his men including King Arthur’s final battle - the Battle of Camlan. It was really interesting and we loved walking through the tunnels.

There is lots more to do on the site including an another attraction -  Lost Legends of The Stone Circle where you can follow the snaking paths and navigate the maze to find mythical stories and The Stone Circle but we had to move quickly to reach our next destination so we ate our packed lunch and headed on.

Llechwedd Slate Caverns

The journey from the Labyrinth to Llechwedd took around 50 minutes. When we arrived on site there were 3 people flying overhead across the Quarry on the 'longest zip line course in the World' - it looked fantastic. The children are too young for that yet so Chris and I have talked about returning next Summer with Grandparents in tow so that we can have a go too! Anyway, I digress, we were there to visit the slate caverns.

After getting our tickets we walked to the mine area and, for the second time that day, donned our hard hats. We took a ride down to the mine on the steepest cable railway in Britain taking us hundreds of feet underground.

Our guide was fantastic, he told us about how the miners and their families lived during Victorian times. As you walk the half mile journey through the caverns you hear the voice of Sion Dolgarregddu - a young miner that went to work in the mine at just 12 years old. It was unbelievable to think how they must have worked the mines in such dark and dangerous conditions. The caverns were lit beautifully. Part of the tour sees you head down around 60 steps and as we moved through the lower caverns we came to a beautiful, natural underground lake - it was absolutely stunning. As we reached the end of the walk through, our guide gave us a demonstration of how the Victorian miners used their tools. We made our ascent up a further staircase and then back up top in the cable car. We finished the tour with a visit to the Mill where we were shown the ancient skill of slate splitting - Little E and Mister A were even given small pieces of slate to take away as a memento.

There is so much to do on site here from the zip wire and the mine tour to Bounce - the world’s first subterranean playground! Huge trampoline like nets are hung within two vast chambers at varying levels, linked together by walkways and slides, the biggest of which is a 60 foot slide! We would have loved to have a try but unfortunaley it was closed by the time we finished our tour. If all that wasnt enough then high up on 'Cribau', behind the historic headquarters of Llechwedd, there are four world beating downhill mountain bike tracks - not for the fainted hearted I would imagine but there are tracks for novices as well as more experienced riders. Finally on the way out we discovered a beatiful waterfall...

Seeing it was the perfect end to a fantastic weekend. Wales is such a beautiful country and we saw some breathtaking views on our 330 mile round trip. I'll leave you with some of the amazing Snowdonian scenery...

What's the Verdict?

We had the perfect weekend away and would highly recommend a visit to Snowdonia. To find out more about the huge amount of attractions that Snowdonia has to offer then visit www.attractionsofsnowdonia.com - go on - do it now!!

In exchange for this review we received a Deri cuddly toy, complimentary admission to the attractions reviewed and an overnight hotel stay.

Haven Presthaven, Prestatyn Review

Over the first April Bank Holiday we headed over to North Wales to take the children on their first static caravan holiday. Eeek - exciting! We booked the holiday (our first of three) through a national newspaper deal and so in all honesty we weren't expecting much but that didn't stop us. Both Chris and I have fantastic memories of similar family holidays when we were children so we were looking forward to the adventure.

The Park

We stayed at the Haven Presthaven site on the coast of North Wales. Arriving at around 5.30pm on Friday evening, we drove right through the park following the signs to check in. The signposting wasn't great and we did wander around the restaurant before being directed to the reception desk.

The lady at the check-in desk was lovely, really taking time to talk to the children and ask if they were excited about the trip. She handed us our key and our entertainment pass wrist bands and showed us on a map the location of caravan where we would be spending the next 3 nights. As well as having each area of the park sign posted by name they also feature a Haven character so Little E and Mister A were always able to locate the character and find their way back (with us obviously!)

The first thing we noticed as we made our way to the caravan was how huge the park was and we panicked a little about getting around the site.

The Caravan

We had booked the cheapest and most basic 4 berth caravan so we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived to find we had been upgraded to a 6 berth caravan. It was really spacious with 3 bedrooms, a lovely living area that included an LCD TV, a kitchen with oven, hob and  microwave and of course a dining area...

Things to Do on the Park
The weather was slightly un-predicatable during our stay but there were plenty of things to keep us busy come rain or shine. There are 2 indoor pools on site that the children loved one with a water slide that even Chris and I loved. We stayed during April so unfortunately the outdoor heated pool and lazy river weren't open during our stay.

There are so many activities from a climbing park to go karts to pool activities and sports. Too many to share but all available to view on the website.

There are plenty of kids activities and clubs available but Mister A and Little E preferred to not to join in so we took to exploring the sand dunes and the playground instead.

In the evening there was plenty of entertainment for all of us to enjoy from Character FunTime shows for the children to live acts and bingo for the grown ups. My real bug bear about the site was that to get to the Live Lounge where the children's disco took place, we had to walk right through an arcade that was open to under 18s. It was filled with tweens gambling and I hated exposing my family to it. Immediately Mister A (7) and Little E (3) were asking for 'monies' to put in the 2p and 10p slots, fruit machines and grabbers. It was so frustrating. When we made it though the migraine inducing arcade the lounge was packed and we had to wait for someone to leave to get a seat.

The children loved the entertainment though and we found ourselves singing 'What does the fox say?' constantly for the entire hoilday much to Chris' annoyance! We obviously had to treat the children to  flashing toys, Mister A choosing a sword and Little E choosing a light up fish shaped bubble gun!! We were sat quite far back during the show but the enteratiners did make there way around the lounge and came over to talketo Little E and Mister A and asked them about thier toys. Little E even showed the entertainer her dance moves!

By 9pm the children were worn out so we headed back to the caravan, popped them in to bed and Christ and I cracked open the win and played cards!

The VerdictWe were worried the children might get bored but in actual fact we would have liked to have stayed longer. There was so much to do but make sure you do pre-book activities at the very start of your stay as they do fill up quickly. We really enjoyed the weekend and hope to visit Haven again soon. There was a real family vibe there and the staff paid great attention to the children which was lovely. Definitely worth a visit - we made some great memories during our stay.

Checklist

As with most holiday parks, you do need to remember to take your own essential items with you. Luckily this wasn't a surprise to us as we researched before our trip, however a lot of people do get caught out and end up having to head to the shops unexpectedly and spending more than they'd anticipated. Here's a handy list to help you to know what to take on your trip...

Bedroom:
Sheets.
Bedding
Additional pillows if you like more than one

Bathroom:
Towels
Toilet Roll
Toiletries

Kitchen:
Cooking Oil
Condiments
Food if your planning to eat in
Washing Up Liquid
Washing up equipment
Tea towels

If you do forget anything at Presthaven than there is a large Spar on site and a retail park 10 minutes away with a large Tesco supermarket and a pound shop.

Review: Barbie: The Pearl Princess

A couple of weeks ago Vue Cinemas invited us to a special blogger screening of Barbie: The Pearl Princess down in London. Unfortunately, like with most events, living 'ooop North' meant that we were unable to travel. Luckily for us Vue were kind enough to offer us tickets to see the film at our local cinema.

Little E was really excited but Daddy and Mister A didn't want to come because "It's for girls". That didn't bother us in the slightest, and it meant that I could invite my friend Mel and her daughter for a lovely girls day out.
So I guess I should tell you a little bit about the film...

In this film Barbie plays a mermaid called Lumina that has a special magic 'pearl powers'. Her and her best friend Kuda, a pink seahorse, spend lots of time playing together, dreaming of being princesses. One day, against her Aunt's wishes, they head out of thier reef  and embark on an adventure to a majestic mer-kingdom. Once at the Royal Ball Lumina uses her special powers to save the day and unlocks the key to her dreams!

Whats the verdict?

Little E and her friend absolutely loved the film. We hadn't even made it home before she was asking whether there was a DVD!

Second Time Mummy Verdict...

The girls loved the film so it's a thumbs up from me - we'll definitely be looking out for the DVD version. The cinema itself was great too as they provide booster seats for the little ones so despite having people in front they could still see.

Check out Vue Cinemas this February half term there's lots of offers to be had:
Vue Kids AM every morning, in selected Vue cinemas, with tickets from just £1.75 for 2D films and from £3 for 3D films, for both children and accompanying adults;
Super Tuesday with up to a third off cinema tickets;
20% off all tickets this half term with special Vue Teen Tickets; and
2for1 tickets to see Moshi Monsters: The Movie.

DAILY BLOG COMP: #WIN a Pabobo Super Nomade Night Light *DAY 10*

The new Pabobo Super Nomade light is a clever little night light. There's no plug, no batteries - just a handy little USB charger and the best bit of all? It can last for up to a month from one single charge!

We've been testing it for nearly two weeks now and we've loved it. Little E has a slight phobia of the dark so bedtimes can be difficult but this has had a great effect on bedtimes... she absolutely loves it! We leave it on her bedside table but by the time we head up to bed she's always fast asleep with it in her hand. No need to worry though - the cold LED system means that the night light will never heat up - even under the covers - so it's completely safe.

If you're wondering how the charge lasts so long - the Pabobo Super Nomade has a special built in sensor so it can tell when it is light and dark, so it turns on and off by itself. And if you need a bit of extra light to check on your little one in the night then theres a little button on the back that doubles the light intensity too!

We think it's absolutely amazing and the great thing is it small enough to take with us when we're on our travels. It would have been great when we were camping in the Summer and will be definitely part of essential camping kit come Spring.

It's beautifully designed and comes in three cute designs. I can not rate this highly enough!!

REVIEW: Seagate STBV3000200 3TB Expansion USB 3.0 3.5 Inch Desktop HardDrive

Over the last few months we have been reviewing an external hard drive - the 'Seagate STBV3000200' to be precise, which has a massive 3TB of space to add to your computer instantly.

We were really excited to receive it because like most people we don't really do 'real' photographs anymore - everything is digital. We have thousands of images scattered across our laptop memory, iCloud and various USBs so we wanted to ensure everything could be kept together.

Chris tried to get everything set up on the home network for us but we were left a bit disappointed - despite the claims by Seagate that it is compatible with Windows 8, 7 and XP when you actually try to access the configuration, windows 8 compatibility isn't listed.  He then selected Windows 7 instead but we had no luck with that either, therefore we had no choice but to leave the hard drive on the default setting. Chris however, runs his net book on Linux and the Seagate shows up on the network on his system.

One thing we had hoped for the hard drive would be that we could back up the photos and videos that are stored on our PS3, but again no luck with that either as the harddrive 'wasn't recognised' onthe Playstaion. In addition, our usb 3.0 router also refuses to connect to the hard drive.*Bad Times*

One good thing about the Seagate is the auto stand-by feature. Our previous hard drives have been plugged in and run constantly - using electric unnecessarily and lowering the life span of the device.

So there you have it, we'll give it a 3 out of 5. Don't get me wrong the hard-drive has proved an invaluable storage facility it's just really frustrating we cant get in to the configuration setting.

Review: Britax TRIFIX Car Seat

Back in April we were approched by Britax who were launching their latest car seat - the Britax TRIFIX. Dubbed "the safest and most beautifully engineered Group 1 car seat", it sounded fab and after taking a peek at it on the Britax website  I was impressed by all of it's safety claims - not to mention it's modern look and sleek lines.
I wrote back immediately to confirm that we would LOVE to road-test the TRIFIX  -and that is what we have been doing  for the past 3 months.

3 months, I feel is a long enough time to really get to grips with a carseat and it gives you enough time to pick up on any annoyances that in a couple of weeks might not necessarily come to light.

Here's my full and frank review...

The Arrival and Fitting

Well to be honest car seat fitting is not my speciality so Chris took charge of "putting it in". Our car is a 54 plate Meriva and we had checked beforehand that the car seat was compatible with our particular car.
After thoroughly reading the instructions he got to work.

After locating the iso-fix bars between the seat cushions, Chris lined up the car seat arm hooks. At first he really struggled and we're not sure what was at fault (the car, the human or the seat) but he only seemed to be able to lock one of the iso-fix hooks rather than both hooks at the same time. As he hooked one on in the other hook would retract. This went on for about 10 very frustrating minutes before he eventually managed to fix both together.

It's important to note that the TRIFIX cannot be fitted using the cars three point seatbelt. In fact, research shows that only 30% of car seats installed using an adult seat belt are installed correctly, compared to 96% when using the iso-fix system.

The V-Tether system (shown left) was relatively easy to setup. One of the good things about this seat is that it has 2 special indicators - (1) to show that the iso-fix arm hooks are properly engaged and (2) to show that the V-Tether is pulled tight.

It took Chris about 25 minutes in total to fit the seat and ensure that it was all safely fitted.

Second Time Mummy Top Tip
: It is a lot easier to fit a child's car seat when both front seats of the vehicle are as far forward as they will go. It allows the fitter maximum room to move and adjust the child seat in the back of the car.

The Sitting Test

Prior to fitting the seat, we had Little E sit in it in the hall so that we could adjust the headrest and the harness to the correct height.

A correctly adjusted headrest ensures optimal protection for your child in the safety seat and should be adjusted so that the shoulder straps are at the same level as your child's shoulders or slightly above.

The seat is clearly comfortable - it has deep softly padded side cushions which are incorporated with uniquely designed SI-PADS. These SI-PADs are made of special energy adsorbing material which will protect your child from any side impact collisions by moving them away from the accident.

The Strap Test

Straps are key for me when choosing a car seat. I want my child to be safe and secure but comfortable at the same time. The straps on the TRIFIX were a real standout for me in comparison to previous car seats we have used. The TRIFIX has special 'perfomance chest pads' (see left) incorporated into the five-point safety harness - meaning, if an accident where to occur these pads will absorb forces felt by your child and further reduce forward movement.

The straps, with thier flexbile high-density foam padding, allow your child to be tightly strapped in to the seat without cutting in to them or feeling too tight and uncomfortable.

The Fastening Test

It's all very well having a comfy seat but if it's a  nightmare getting your kids in and out then there's a big problem. One of my favourite features of the TRIFIX is that the main buckle remains permanantly upright saving me a lot of "fishing under bum time."

My ultimate fear though is catching Little E's skin in the buckle and the TRIFIX doesn't solve this issue. If I could change the design in any way it would be to add some kind of leg protector to prevent any nasty accidents.

The Sleeping Test

There are multiple reclining positions available for when your little one is sleeping and I am pleased to say that you can adjust the position easily using the front lever - without it even waking your little one!

We did still get a case of "drooping head" but I felt that Little E was a lot more supported than in her previous seat. The head rest is well padded and snug. In the past 3 months the TRIFIX has seen a lot of snoring from my little girl so I guess that's a pass.

The Cleaning Test

Great news.. you can remove AND wash the cover! There are full instructions provided but basically you just slide off the headrest cover and then the main seat cover comes off easily. Both covers can be safely washed at 30 degrees. The only part you cant wash is the shoulder pads as they are permanently attached to the harness.

Finally, huge tick for Britax for realising the plus points of having a removable main buckle. This has been one of my major frustrations over the years when cleaning - you always get loads of crumbs and dust gathering in the nooks and crannies that is impossible to remove because of the buckle. You can never do a proper clean - not anymore! Hooray!

The Fashionability Test
The TRIFIX is currently available in 8 colours. The design is fabulously sleek and I've had a couple of "Oooh what's that car seat?" queries whilst chatting to  mums in the nursery car park. It looks stunning and I only wish I could ride around in one!

What Do Britax Say?

Mark Bennett, Britax’s Car Seat Safety expert remarks, ‘We are incredibly proud to be launching our safest Group 1 car seat. The advanced safety technologies form part of what Britax call 360 degrees protection – our commitment to keeping children safe from every possible angle of impact. We will continue to strive to develop and enhance all our seats to ensure peace of mind for all parents who choose Britax and optimal safety for their children.

The original ISOFIX (which connects child car seats rigidly to the vehicle chassis) now an international standard for child seats in vehicles, was born by Britax in co-operation with VW in 1997 to combat the problems of poorly fitted car seats and improve child safety. Now, with the advent of ISOFIX + technologies used in the TRIFIX seat, parents can have the ultimate peace of mind knowing their child could not be any safer.

As well as being Britax’s safest child car seat for this age category, TRIFIX is simple to use. The ISOFIX system anchors the seat directly to the car’s ISOFIX connection points, while the V-Tether clicks into the third anchorage point in the rear of the car. Special indicators show parents that the ISOFIX catch arm hooks are properly engaged and that the V-Tether is pulled tight. In addition to this, there are some more practical, parent friendly enhancements; the seat cover is quick and easy to remove and wash, the buckle stays in the forward position so it is easy to sit your child in the seat, there are multiple recline positions for when your little one is sleeping and the ISOFIX arms retract neatly for easy storage.

The Verdict

After 3 months with the TRIFIX we absolutely love it. It gives us piece of mind with all it's safety fetures, it looks great and Little E finds it comfortable enough to snooze in. Retailing at £319.99 I would have completely dimissed this seat as being out of budget but given that it can be used for 3 years - that works out at less than £10 per month over that time frame. Well worth it if you've got the money to spend up front. We think it's great and we're recommending it to all of you.

The TRIFIX seat is suitable from 9 months to 4 years (or 9-18kgs) and retails at £319.99.
